Books & Bit∂s
Books & Bitәs is a book club for women and girls ages 12 and up. We ask that ages 12-15 be accompanied by a mom or substitute mom.
We meet one Sunday each month (usually the third Sunday at 2:30) to discuss that month’s selected book. We eat snacks, some knit or do other handcrafts, and we laugh. We hope you will consider joining us!
Please check the Gospel Truth newsletter for this month’s selection and meeting date/time.
Contact us at email@example.com or call the church office to leave a message.
Social Justice Small Group
We believe the mission of our Church calls us all to Ministry; the mission is not only local, but global and is for everyone.
We meet monthly the 2nd Wednesday at 7 pm at church for an hour of group discussion.
Our first goal as a Small Group is to help our church membership know more about what our United Methodism’s “Book of Discipline” expects from us in the area of Social Principles.
Join us – you’ll find there are many options for social involvement, depending on your motivation:
- social service
- social education
- social witness
- social action
Social involvement is identifying the need & then doing something about it – it is Christian love in action.
“Jesus got into trouble for attempting to transform society rather than conform to it, but if we name the Name, and if we are followers of The Way, we are called to engage in the redemption of the social order. We are to help bring healing & wholeness to a broken world”. George Outen, former general secretary of General Board of Church & Society.
Fun & Fellowship
Fun & Fellowship is a church wide organization that plans activities that are open to the whole Congregation!
Annually we do things as diverse as: Family Game Night, Our Annual Chili Cook Off, Church Picnic, Talent Show, Autumn Family Camping, Road Rally, and Hay Ride. We go to Tiger Games and The Redford Theater. In December we go Christmas Caroling to the confirmed and homebound.
We try to gear our fun to the general public and are open to suggestions. Please see the on-line calendar for times and dates of current events.
Who is The Outer Circle and is this for us?
We are a group of couples who started to get to know each other during coffee hour. We talked lightly for a long time about getting together outside of church, which then formed a basis to create a social group.
Not everyone in the group has kids, we range in age but we all love having fun and laughing. Our activities are varied and are once a month on a Saturday night. It’s a couple’s only group but we do have one family event in the summer.
We are always welcoming new couples in so don’t be shy.
Feel free to call the church or email Sharon Gesse at firstname.lastname@example.org for more details or to be added to our email list so that you don’t miss any of our plans!
As always, don’t be shy to join in, we are always welcoming new people.
