When are our services?

During the school year, from September to the middle of June we have two services. One at 9:30 A.M. and the other at 11:15 A.M.

Our traditional service begins at 9:30 A.M. in the sanctuary. There is a call to worship and opening prayer, scripture readings, prayers and traditional hymns and songs. The anthem is sung by the Chancel Choir and the sermon given by the pastor.

The Carillon Choir plays the bells for the offertory on the second Sunday of the month, the LOGOS Children’s Choir sings for the introit on the third Sunday of the month and, the Angels in Motion liturgical dance group performs for the introit on the fourth Sunday of the month.

Our blended service begins at 11:15 A.M. with a welcome and praise songs, an opening prayer, special music by the Sanctuary Singers, LOGOS choir, Bell choir, or Angels in Motion liturgical dancers. There is a ritual of friendship, sharing of joys and concerns, prayer, praise songs, and giving.

During the summer our worship service is offered at 10:00 a.m. only.

Communion is served once a month on the first Sunday of the month at both services.

What happens during worship?

There is a time for gathering and fellowship, hymn singing, scripture readings, young people’s moment, sermon, congregational prayer, silent prayer, prayer requests, and giving. It is a time of experiencing a spiritual connection with God.

What happens after worship?

Many people head downstairs to Wesley Hall for coffee, cookies, and fellowship. Others go to local restaurants in small groups for breakfast and fellowship. Some head right for their cars. The gatherings in Wesley Hall are an opportunity to find out what activities are going on in the church, catch up with friends and meet new people.

What should I wear?

Most people dress business casual although some people dress up a little more and some wear jeans.

What do I do with my kids?

We have a nursery for children from infants to three years old. (in the nursery on the sanctuary level)

Preschool for children 3-5 (in a classroom on the sanctuary level)

Rotation Sunday school for children 1st grade – 5th grade in classrooms (on the lower level)

Sunday School for middle school (grades 6-8) and high school (grades 9-12) in the upper level classrooms.

Is there a youth group?

Yes. The Guiding Force Youth Group meets on Sunday afternoons from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. (in the youth room on the upper level) The group participates in many youth oriented activities and missions. Some of them include: Operation Good Cheer, Application Service Project, Halloween Activities, Rope Courses, Christian Music Concerts and much more. Their mission is to be a Christ based Guiding Force in the community through our gifts, prayers, presence and service.

What about adult Bible study?

Will I be able to take Holy Communion?

Methodists believe that communion is open to everyone who intends to follow the way of the Lord.  All are invited to take communion.

Where do I park my car?

There is a large parking lot behind the church where many people park. There is also parking across the side street of the church as well as some street parking behind the church. There are some handicapped spaces immediately adjacent to the back of the church for those with mobility limitations and we also have a circular drive right near the main entrance where people may be dropped off.

If I have mobility issues, is there a place for me?

We have wheel chairs, walkers and an elevator to take you to the sanctuary. There are greeters at the door to assist you coming in to the church.

How do I become a member?

Membership Class

If you sign the friendship pad during the worship service and check “I wish to become a member”, provide a phone or email address, someone will contact you about attending a membership class. It’s a great way to make new friends and learn about the church. There are many opportunities to grow in your faith through bible studies and group activities as well as have fun.

Confirmation classes are offered for the middle school and high school youth. It is an opportunity for the youth to grow in their faith and become full members of the church. For more information contact Pastor Bea at pastorbea@farmingtonfumc.org.
