Outreach Committee | Heritage Park Clean-up, Saturday, April 24th
On Saturday, April 24,2021, they are conducting a park clean-up at Heritage Park.
The past year has presented a number of challenges to our faith journey. As the COVID pandemic fades, it’s time to get back in the “hands and feet” business. With that in mind, your Outreach Committee has explored service options with three local non-profit organizations. The FFUMC Outreach Committee believes each of them offers good opportunities to interact.
The Oakland County Habitat for Humanity will hold three two-day service events in the Summer and Fall. The activities will take place in Pontiac and Southfield and consist of outside repairs (painting, gutter repair, yard work, etc.) only. The Livingston County Habitat for Humanity has a special program devoted to making critical home repairs for veterans. Last week, I participated in the remodeling of a bathroom for a handicapped veteran. They are also planning to conduct a golf outing fundraiser in August. For both of these Habitat groups, we will provide more updates as we get closer in time to the events.
In addition, we wanted to provide you with some advance notice so you can start thinking about how you might want to help. A third organization that we talked with is Rebuilding SE Michigan and they are holding an event in the near future. On Saturday, April 24,2021, they are conducting a park clean-up at Heritage Park. If you would be interested in participating or would like more information about the park clean-up, please contact John Sheppard. In the meantime, please consider how you can support the Habitat groups this summer!!
